Why is the television called the ``idiot box''?
What is it that you normally do when you watch television? You keep staring at the screen. You are glued to the images that appear on it. You sit there passively with your eyes wide open. You don't even think; you just sit there like an idiot, watching. This is one of the reasons why television is called the ``idiot box''. Television kills your imagination and your curiosity and in the process makes you an idiot. By the way, another common name for television is ``goggle box'' - people just keep staring (goggling) at it like a bunch of idiots!``I often quote myself. It adds spice to my conversation.'' - G. B.
