What is a female "postmaster" called?
A woman who is in charge of a local post office is called a `postmistress'. Makes sense, doesn't it? The plural is `postmistresses'. These words have been included in the latest edition of some dictionaries. Ever wondered what a female postman is called? Logically it should be `postwoman', but none of the dictionaries have included this word. In the U.S, men and women who deliver mail are called "mail carriers".Source:
